Linara Davidson Interview
I’ve been blessed with so much in my life. Part of my way of saying thank you and showing my gratitude is by being of service.
Linara Davidson, East Harlem Tutorial Program
Why is giving back important to you?
I’ve been blessed with so much in my life. Part of my way of saying thank you and showing my gratitude is by being of service.
How will you shift the culture through your philanthropic endeavors?
I currently work for a non-profit called East Harlem Tutorial Program that supports young people from East Harlem to get to and through college. We have a series of programs that start at Pre-K in order to assist them in realizing their best possible selves. Our goal is to service 25 percent of East Harlem Youth and their families by 2025. What I’m extremely proud of is that we do all of this work through the lens of anti-racism.
What is the biggest myth about giving back and volunteering that needs to be debunked?
It’s important to know that volunteering is just as much about transforming the life of the volunteer as it is for whoever one is supporting.
What is your organization’s biggest need and how can people support?
Sign up to get involved and volunteer! We want to expose our young people to all of the possibility out there. Go to EHTP.org to learn about how you can get involved.
Continue the sentence... I give too because...
I give too because...it’s the rent I gladly pay for living.
