Volunteers assist our Family Trainers as they deliver the Family Learning Workshops. Participating families receive their own Home Learning Center (a free computer loaded with educational software) to train on and then take home. Volunteers help families to set up their Home Learning Center at the beginning of the workshop; to learn basic software operations; and to get hands-on experience using their Home Learning Center to improve reading, writing, and mathematics. Sessions are three and a half hours long on Saturday mornings and afternoons. In some regions, there are other volunteer opportunities available, including providing assistance in refurbishing computers at our warehouses and conducting outreach to families through call banks.
